Please join the Atlantic Council’s Future Europe Initiative and the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Athens Exchange Group for a conversation on “Greece as a Geostrategic Ally.” The event will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Atlantic Council Headquarters (1030 15th Street NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC 20005).
Amidst a decade of economic turmoil, Greece has emerged as a vital NATO ally with a proven track record of dedication to transatlantic security cooperation. Greece is one of the few NATO members to reach NATO’s 2% of GDP target for defense spending, and the country continues to serve as a critical hub for ally training and operations in the region.
Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, US Ambassador to Greece; Mr. George Chouliarakis, Alternate Greek Minister of Finance; and Simos Anastasopoulos, President of AmCham Greece, will join a conversation with Nonresident Senior Fellow Katerina Sokou to explore US-Greece security cooperation in the Western Balkans and Mediterranean region and discuss American strategy toward the region.
We hope you can join us for this important and timely conversation.
